We set our minimum assessment threshold at 0.05 TH/s (50 GH/s). Operators occasionally ask why that number exists and whether their smaller rig qualifies.
The Measurement Floor
Below 0.05 TH/s, hash rate fluctuations from network difficulty adjustments, pool latency, and share submission timing can mask hardware-level variance. Our logging equipment resolves to roughly ±0.3% — meaningful only when the base hash rate is high enough to separate signal from noise.
Who Operates at This Level
At 0.05 TH/s you are typically looking at:
- Entry-level ASIC units from earlier generations
- Compact GPU rigs with two to four mid-range cards
- Experimental FPGA setups in hobbyist configurations
These are common in home mining, small hosting rooms, and educational setups across South Korea.
Is Testing Worth It?
For a single 0.05 TH/s unit, a full lab assessment may cost more than the hardware itself. We generally recommend testing at this threshold when:
- You are buying used equipment with unknown history
- You plan to scale to multiple identical units
- You need documentation for insurance or warranty claims
- You are comparing two models before a larger purchase
For a lone hobby unit, our field notes and self-monitoring guides may be more cost-effective.
Scaling Considerations
